SOTAS September Update

Brian Banks reports that work on Astbury Mere has been progressing extremely well over recent weeks. The Society has been working hard to dig channels to stop the general public from walking around the foreshore.

The images below show some the work to date and the intention is to now introduce aquatic planting within the channels which will encourage wildlife and also provide good safety areas for the fish fry to hide from the perch and pike after spawning in the spring.

In terms of catches, it has been another good month on Astbury with carp to 29lb being reported, and also the river Dove is fishing very well for the barbel and chub.
