Astbury Mere Update; May 2012

It’s been a patchy start to the spring on Astbury Mere due to the extreme weather conditions; the end of March saw the mini heat wave and the carp responded to it, the best reported fish was a mirror of 23lb 8oz, then we returned to cooler conditions and it slowed again but fish are still coming to the bank.

In the last week fish of 24lb and 28lb have been reported, the work parties are now complete and we have fenced off a large section of the north bank which should keep the public at bay from the main fishing pegs (members should be reminded that only members with work party passes can fish Astbury during the month of May).

On a sad note it would appear that some members have been leaving litter on the pegs - we have increased the bailiffing on the Mere and any member found littering will be expelled from the club.

Below you can see some images of the work which has been carried out on Astbury.
